The Governing Body is made up in the following way:

CROFTON INFANTS’ SCHOOL - Governor Details and Register of Interests

From 1 September 2015, governing bodies of local authority maintained schools in England were required to publish on their website their register of interests. This register meets statutory requirements by setting out the relevant business interests of our governors and details of any other educational establishments they govern. The register includes details of any relationships between governors and members of the school staff including spouses, partners and relatives.

Governor Attendance Report

Chair of Governors: Mr R MacNair

Chair of Governors: Mr R MacNair 1

Chair of Governors

I have been on the Governing Body at Crofton Infants' School for approximately 8 years and Chair for over 6.In this time two of my children have passed through the school ( George and Henry) and one still attends (Freddie). For the past few years I have had the privilege of being the main child carer. I have used my spare time to become more involved in School Governance and was recently Chair of the Wakefield Association of School Governors.  More recently I have taken on the role of one of the Directors of Waterton Multi Academy trust of which Crofton Infants' School is now a member.

My varied work experience has involved Cost Accountancy, Supply Chain Management and Insurance Underwriting, until redundancy allowed me to become primary child carer.

In recent months I have set up a procurement consultancy initially specialising in Water Cost Management and reduction.

Local Authority Governor and Vice Chair of Governors

I have been a governor for Crofton Infants’ since 2013. Before this I was a parent governor for Normanton All Saints Infant School from 2011 to 2013. I serve on the Finance committee for the school.

I am currently working as an operation manager for Lloyds Banking Group and have worked for them for the last 18yrs.

I am married with three children one of whom currently attends Crofton Infants’ school, and one who attends Crofton Junior School. My youngest will be attending Crofton Infants’ when she is old enough. Most of my free time is taken up with the children, but when I get the chance I enjoy playing most sports particularly golf, and watching films.

Co-opted Governor

I have lived in Crofton for the last 11 years and am married with three children; two of whom are now attending Crofton Junior School and one currently in Year 1 at Crofton Infants’ School.

I graduated from Newcastle University in 1998 with a BSc in Agriculture and began work as an Agricultural Agronomist. I followed a career route into Agricultural Chemical Account Management but later decided on a career change to pursue a senior management role and diversified into the financial sector, progressing to become the manager of a well known Building Society.

I gave up work in 2005 to look after my children and now help in school when needed.

I enjoy being a governor and feel it is important as a parent to ensure that children are being taught and cared for to a high standard.

Co-opted Governor

I am a Geordie by birth but have lived in Yorkshire since 1997. Prior to becoming a vicar I was a lecturer at Chesterfield College for 13 years teaching Media and Performing Arts. Working with students age 16 and over was a pleasure and gave me a good grounding in organisation, curriculum planning and classroom management.

I have been the vicar at both All Saints Church Crofton and St Peter’s Church Warmfield since October 2016 and enjoy the role immensely. I have begun to build up a relationship with all the schools in Crofton and come into Crofton Infants to do assemblies.

In my ‘spare’ time I enjoy holidays with my husband Paul, reading with my cat Rose on my lap and both performing and watching stand-up comedy. I am also mildly obsessed with Harry Potter.

Co-opted Governor

I am a parent governor and was voted onto Crofton Infants’ School governing body by parents of the school in October 2012.

I am married and am mum to 3 children- Connie and Martha who both attend Crofton Junior School, and Evan who attends Crofton Academy.

I am a Special Needs teacher and currently work part-time teaching Year 1 and 2 children with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties at a school in Stanley. I have been a Special Needs teacher for 16 years and believe in giving all children the best education and learning experiences they can possibly have. I am also a pattern designer and run my own business designing and making a range of homewares with my business partner and long term best friend.

Most of my spare time is spent with my family- whether that is taking my children to and from their numerous activities or enjoying walks, bike rides and holidays with my husband and children. I also love to paint, sew, crochet and spend time with my friends!

My attendance record at full governing body meetings has been 6/6 in the previous academic year and I have been on the ‘house’ committee- helping to secure and plan the renovation of the house attached to school in order to create the new nursery.

Co-opted Governor

I was originally voted onto the Crofton Infants’ School Governing Body by parents of the school in October 2012. Since joining the Governing Body, I then gained employment at the school and was unable to continue as a parent governor and so moved to being a co-opted governor.

I am married with 2 children. Both children were educated at Crofton Infants’ School, before moving onto Crofton Junior School.

I have had a mixture of jobs though my working life: first I qualified in Equine Business Management and worked with horses for many years; I then moved to the Hotel and Catering trade where I ran a small wine bar: I then worked for a Spanish Property Company arranging flights to and from Spain for staff and clients as well as organising exhibitions up and down the country. I also worked for the IT department of the Home Office based in Croydon liaising with the suppliers for the staff’s hardware and software requirements; finally I now work in school as an ESA. I bring all these experiences to my role as a governor.

I have attended all the Governor Body’s meeting since being elected and am a member of the Finance Committee as well as the House Committee which was set up to assist the Head Teacher acquire  the attached  building to the school.

Staff Governor

I have worked at Crofton Infants' School for 9 years as both a Teaching Assistant and a Teacher. As a Teaching Assistant I have worked in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes as well as carrying out intervention work. As a Teacher I have covered PPA time across the school.

I have been a governor at Crofton Infants' School for 11 years both as a parent governor and now a staff governor. I am the designated child protection, safeguarding and special needs governor.

I am married with 2 children who attend Crofton Academy and Pontefract New College. I have lived in Crofton for 15 years and know the local community well and many of the people within it.

I enjoy running, walking my dog and spending time with my family. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Education which I hope to complete and pass by Christmas.

Headteacher

I became headteacher at Crofton Infants’ in 2004 and have just started my 11th year in post here. How time flies! During this time I have seen many children come and go, but the common thread for them all is that we provide somewhere for them to start school that is warm and welcoming and encourages them to learn in the best way possible for them.

We have just extended our Nursery to 39 places which is possible because we have acquired the house adjacent to school. This has long been a dream of mine so it is great to see it finally realised.

The job has changed much while I have been here but essentially children remain the same: hopers, dreamers, doers, explorers, avid learners.

I hope that I still retain some of the enthusiasm for life and learning that they show! I love reading, gardening, exploring and holidays as well as spending time at home and walking my puppy.
