The Bell Tolls!

After a silence of many years the bell at Crofton Infants’ School tolled again on Friday 26th November 1999! It caused great excitement within school and the children poured out of the classroom doors to witness this historic event.


It all began at a parents’ meeting when it was suggested that it would be lovely to have the bell working in time for the year 2000. One parent undertook to investigate the possibilities. As a result of this the bell was removed, but TRAGICALLY the bell was cracked!

	HOWEVER... as luck would have it, a new bell could be cast using the original as a mould.
The new bell rang out on 1st January, 2000 at twelve noon, along with many church bells across the land.
