RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Children are taught about the stories, festivals and events that help to provide the pattern and meaning in their lives. Teachers encourage children to talk about and write about the variety of ceremonies, buildings and people in Christianity and other religions. Children learn to think about these and put forward their own ideas. Our teaching of RE is based on the Wakefield Agreed Syllabus.

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

An Act of Worship takes place every day and is broadly Christian. It includes discussion, songs, stories and prayers. Often assemblies are based on helping and caring for each other. Opportunities for reflection are included on a regular basis. Every Friday we celebrate the good news from the week. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from assembly on religious grounds following consultation with the Headteacher. Alternative work and supervision will be provided for any child who is withdrawn.
